It’s Friday November Third
…..the band who made the '90s grunge rock movement possible
I’m going to see a band tonight that has been with me through practically my whole life. A band that when my friends hear their name they automatically think of me! I’ve seen them all up and down the west coast – San Diego all the way up to their hometown of Seattle. The band that I’ve seen the most……. MUDHONEY. I’m really excited and anxious. It’s weird, I feel like a kid. A lot of my friends say they are over them and that’s ok. They aren’t exactly the same line-up but the bass player ‘Guy Maddison’ fits in alright. I mean, he is no Matt Lukin. He seems more friendly and smiles a lot more then Matt. Guy has actually been in the band for quite some time (since 2002) and played with Mark in a side project called Bloodloss. It’s just nice to go to a show like this and see all the old Mudhoney fans that you haven’t seen in 10 years or so. I still get shy around Mark, mainly because I’ve had a crush on him for over 10 years. It’s weird…. If Brad Pitt and Mark Arm were in a group of people talking to one another I would easily be able to talk to Brad Pitt but I would get all tongue tied if I were to talk to Mark Arm. I get absolutely shy when it comes to certain things. I’m still kicking myself for not going to Arizona to see Nirvana and Mudhoney play together. Mark had put me on the guest list back in the early 90’s when I worked with Flipside Magazine.
I’ve decided to leave work early today. My boss is gone until Tuesday anyway and I’ve got nothing to do. I want to go to the gym before the show tonight. I’ve been going to the gym less because I’ve been going to Karate more. I feel a bit more confident in class now that I’m getting to know the black belt students better.
I’m going to be doing a long term project at work with the department that my boss still works with. I’ve been helping out different departments near me and I don’t mind at all. They know I don’t do anything and more importantly they know it’s not my fault. They just want to use me to get their work done and I’m more then happy to help. I’m keeping track of all that I do in case something comes up later down the line, job-wise.
