Wednesday – TV= Grammys or Lost.
If you have Tivo then you have it all.
I really only want to see Kanye West as far as the Grammys are concerned.I’m sure I’ll end up flipping back and forth from Lost.
Speaking of TV, I missed Love Monkey last night. I ended up going to see The Black Angels at Spaceland instead. I almost just stayed home because I had just finished up at the gym and didn’t think I’d make it in time. My good friend Roger went to In ‘n Out for me to save time while I was on the way to pick him up. I can easily be persuaded into going out if an In ‘n Out “grilled cheese, fries- well done and an iced tea” is involved.
As we walk up to the door I see my friend Suzy leaning up against the wall talking on her cell phone. I haven’t seen her in a year or so. We all hung out and watched a couple of good bands together. The first band “STEVENSON RANCH DAVIDIANS” were pretty cool, they reminded me a little of The Dandys “THE BLACK ANGELS”were who we came to see and I’m so glad that I did. It was pure drone as it’s finest. The drummer (a blonde girl) played with mallots for the most part, she was awesome. I took ton’s of photos.
You can check them out on myspace, same with The Stevenson Ranch band..
I got home and was still wired. We didn’t stay for the headliner “Becky”, so I was home by midnight. My alarm goes off at 6:30 and I shut it off and went back to sleep until 7:40 and still made it to work by 8:30. I had this dream that this guy recognized me from the 7th grade and then I kissed him. I’m in an extra good mood today for some reason. I don’t know what it is. Perhaps it’s the weather or perhaps it was because I got my morning starbucks chai tea at 10am and chilled a bit on their patio before heading back to work. There are so many good shows coming up in March! Jeff Tweedy is playing this Sunday and I don’t have a ticket. I really want to go. If only to hear him do “California Stars”.other shows: Jeff Klein, Supergrass, Kris Kristofferson, Jonny Kaplen, Pink Mountaintops, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Hellacopters, The Dirtbombs and The Greenhornes. No rest for the rockers!
Here are a few places that I was thinking about moving to: downtown Fullerton, Huntington Beach, Long Beach or Cape Cod Ma. My job doesn’t look good after almost 2 years of being here, I’m afraid it’s going to go away. I can easily find a job again but If I moved to Cape Cod (it’s so nice in the summer!) I could / would have to, start all over. Plus there is this guy…on the east coast…. I used to see him twice a year for a couple of years about 4 years ago but now it’s like an e-mail out of the blue here and e-mail there. I just wonder if he could be one of “the ones”. I know we both feel the same way and we will always wonder until we find out. It’s kind of interesting that I’m blogging about all of this because just this morning I received a rather long email from him expressing everything that I was feeling. I wonder if the reason why I haven’t had a long relationship in a little over 3 years is because this guy has always been my “safety net” so to speak.
I was at lunch today and there happen to be a TV on with some show about masonry. I found it really interesting. I think I would be good at building something. I’ve always enjoyed building things with wood (CD and book racks) but it seems more interesting to me to build something like a brick wall fence. So what if that sounds strange. Sometimes people go through their whole life hating their boring jobs and never knowing what they really want to be. They just settle, mainly because they are forced. Then there are those of us who have the time and energy and ability to do anything we want but not the ‘know how’.
Did I mention that The Hellacopters are coming to America?! This band is the most rockin’ / fun/ live band I’ve ever seen (besides The Dirtbombs / Motorhead/ Slayer). I’m so completely and utterly excited about seeing them (Strings esp.) in March.
If anyone has an extra Jeff Tweedy ticket for sale for the Fonda Theatre, please let me know. I’m really bummed that I didn’t get one, I may just end up going down there on Sunday to try and find one. This has taken me two days to write so far. The Grammy’s were alright last night. I liked Kanye West, Madonna and also the Paul McCartney performances. The Sly and the Family Stone tribute was kinda cheesy along with Sly coming out all “I’m too cool to look at you” attitude. What was up with that? I couldn’t tell the dudes age by looking at him with his white Mohawk-otherwise bald head, fancy clothes and dark sunglasses. His jacket covered his neck so you aren’t able to see any 60+ yr old wrinkles that he must have. His face and otherwise bald head were all tight and shinny. He is an odd character to say the least. You couldn’t even tell if he was singing. I’m not going to slam anyone else. I think Green Day is cool. They’ve been through a lot and came out on top. Good for them.
I liked the fact that when Kanye got up there to accept his Grammy, he mentioned Jon Brion right off the bat. He said that Jon has helped him be a better person all around. I never would have gave Kanye a listen if it wasn’t for Jon and that night Jon let Kanye perform at the Largo. I know I’ve been talking about Jon since day one of this blog and I’m sure it get’s boring reading about it but it’s just nice to know that after all these years other people are discovering Jon Brion somehow, someway.
There is nothing more that I want to do right now then to get in my jeep and blast “paying the dues” by The Hellacopters. So in ½ an hour, that’s what I’m gonna do.
